Through 2027, Hawaii is increasing the rental motor vehicle surcharge by $0.50 annually on January 1 of each year. Effective January 1, 2024, the State of Hawaii will increase the rental motor vehicle surcharge tax rate from $6.00 per day (or any portion of a day) to $6.50 per day (or any portion of a day).
