Florida Governor Ron  DeSantis recently signed Florida HB 7071. As part of this legislation, Florida has approved tax holidays for disaster preparedness and tax freedom week.

The Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will be held between May 28, 2022 and June 10, 2022, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain disaster and emergency supplies free from state sales tax when the cost per item meets certain threshold requirements.

The Freedom Week Sales Tax Holiday will be held between July 1, 2022 and July 7, 2022, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase admissions to music events, sporting events, cultural events, specified performances, movies, museums, state parks, and fitness facilities free from state sales tax. Additionally, numerous recreational items will be exempt from sales tax given certain threshold requirements are met.

Guidance from the Florida Department of Revenue for the above Sales Tax Holidays can be found here.
