Tax and compliance industry veteran Alex Pavel will lead initiatives to bring global platform solutions for multinational companies operating in these regions
ATLANTA, OCTOBER 16, 2024 – Sovos, the always-on tax compliance company, today announced the appointment of Alex Pavel as managing director for APAC & Middle East operations. Based out of Dubai, Alex will further extend Sovo’s footprint and reach in this region, providing local representation for multinational companies looking to navigate the increasingly complex landscape of tax and compliance. Alex brings to the role nearly 20 years of experience in this business sector and a proven track record of success in establishing new markets and launching new products for software companies.
“The demand for tax and compliance solutions in the APAC and Middle East regions is quickly ramping up as governments here have witnessed the success of similar programs in other parts of the world,” said Alice Katwan, president of revenue, Sovos. “To ensure our customers have the right solutions in place to meet the new levels of demand and complexity it was important that we bring in an established leader with vast experience in this area. Alex is that person and I’m confident that our customers and partners will benefit from his expertise and in-region location.”
Pavel joins Sovos having worked at a number of tax and compliance software providers where he led numerous teams in establishing new markets, partnerships and alliances. In addition, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Middle East Chapter of the Global Exchange Network Association (GENA), an industry group of service providers focused on electronic invoicing and business document exchange automation. Pavel is also an active member of the international business community with involvement in groups such as the Virtual Advisory Board (VAB), where he serves as a board member specializing in the B2B software and Services sector.
“The global wave of change and increased complexity of tax has reached the Asia-Pacific market, and I look forward to leading the effort on Sovos’ behalf to bring comprehensive solutions to customers in this region,” said Pavel. “Our industry is currently undergoing a fundamental shift in the way that governments require businesses of all sizes and industries to categorize data across transactions to remain compliant and we are here to support them in their process.”
