Even with the newly announced December 28th mandates by the Mexico SAT, there is still quite a bit of confusion in the marketplace. If you run a Shared Services environment or if you are in charge tax compliance or account payables, here are four issues you or your service provider should be able to answer.

  1. How will you deal with the inbound XML validations? You must understand how you will validate these invoices as you have to archive them, and you are not going to archive invalid invoices for tax purposes. If you are caught in non-compliance it is a criminal penalty.
  2. How will you manage the difference between suppliers that send CFD versus CFDI invoices? Are you sure you can validate both types?
  3. Are you meeting the legislative mandates for archiving? Paper no longer matters, so be sure you understand how you will deal with these issues going forward.
  4. How are you using the XML to make your AP department more efficient. Because the XML must be sent by your suppliers and because it can arrive even before the goods or with the truck, your organization can use this information to really accelerate Straight Through Processing and Inbound Receiving.

As finance and IT executives, these mandates are already in affect. Be sure you understand the types of invoices and the specific processes you need to be installing in order to meet the AP requirements of the Mexico SAT.
