On 28 June 2021 the Greek Ministry of Finance announced that the myDATA mandate has been postponed to autumn 2021. This is due to the adverse financial impact of the pandemic on businesses and the country.

The phased roll-out begins in September 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2021. Retroactive reporting of historical data (data issued until the myDATA go-live date) must be reported until the end of March 2022.

For the reporting of income data, they must be reported:

  • From 1 October 2021 by a) taxpayers with double-entry accounting books and revenue over 50.000 EUR and b) taxpayers with single-entry accounting books and revenue over 100.000 EUR
  • From 1 November 2021 by all taxpayers

For 2021, there is no obligation to report classifications of expenses.

For the reporting of POS retail data:

  • The phased roll-out of POS reporting starts on 1 September 2021 for certain taxpayers and is completed on 1 November 2021 for all taxpayers.
  • POS devices currently in use must be upgraded to comply with AADE’s new specifications.
  • POS devices must be able to transmit data to myDATA on a transactional basis (one-by-one) and in real-time.

The myDATA scheme is expected to abolish the requirement to submit the Greek periodic invoice reports (συγκεντρωτικές καταστάσεις πελατών – προμηθευτών) which are considered an administrative burden for Greek taxpayers. The AADE hopes that the new phased roll-out plan will give taxpayers sufficient time to prepare for the new continuous transaction controls system.
