On Friday 8 May, the European Commission (EC) published a legislative proposal to delay implementation of the e-Commerce VAT Package by six months due to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. The implementation of the new measures, which were set to come into force on 1 January 2021, have been delayed until 1 July 2021.
The Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States to the European Union (COREPER) is set to debate the Commission’s proposals today, after which they will be presented for approval to the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) at its next meeting, scheduled for Tuesday 18 May.
Details of the EC’s proposals as well as the accompanying legislative texts can be found here.
