IMS: Save to GSTN and Regenerate GSTR-2B
Saving sends your Accept, Reject and Pending actions to the GST portal. Until you save, your actions exist only in the GST compliance application, and the GST portal knows nothing about them. After you save, you regenerate GSTR-2B so that it reflects your decisions.
Save your actions
- In IMS Recon Result, open the Save to GSTN tab.
- Select the GSTINs and the sections, and then select Proceed. You can filter the list by Current Action (Saved at GSTN), New Action (To be Saved), Has Error, Is Pending Action blocked, CTIN, GSTN Status and Supplier filing status.
- Generate the summary. The Action Summary shows, by section (B2B, B2BA, B2BDN, B2BDNA, B2BCN, B2BCNA, ECOM, ECOMA), the GSTINs, the number of CTINs, the invoice value, the taxable value and the tax amount. It also shows the Actions on Invoices counts: Accept (green), Pending (amber) and Reject (red), shown separately for ITC Reduction Valid Invoices (where ITC reduction applies, handled in ITC Reduction Actioning) and ITC Reduction Invalid Invoices (where it does not apply, handled in Invoice Actioning), with a Total Invoices Actioned column. Use the Sections drop-down and GO to switch sections.
- Check the numbers, and then select Proceed with save. To fix something first, choose Go Back to Recon Result, or choose Cancel.
- If some GSTINs cannot be saved, a List of Invalid Requests shows each one with its error, and a List of Valid Requests lets you proceed with the rest.

You see “Bulk save request for N Gstin(s) placed successfully” when the request is queued. To stop a request, choose cancel and confirm “Are you sure you want to cancel the save request?”
Amended invoices need their originals actioned. If an original invoice is neither accepted nor rejected, the system says “Some original invoices have not been accepted or rejected yet which is required before saving their amended versions”. You can let the system reject those originals automatically, or review them yourself first.
Follow the save and fix errors
Once you place the save request, you are taken to the Logs tab. It shows who placed the request, for which GSTINs, when it was placed and completed, and its status (new, in progress, completed, processed with error or failed). Select the icon on a request to see its sub-requests and their status. If you return to the Save to GSTN tab while the save is running, you see a single line saying that the save is in progress, and an email with the status and GSTN summary is sent to you when it completes.

The save request panel lists the Reference No., Description and Status. If GSTN returns errors, you see “GSTN errors found, check the B2B or CDN sections for affected invoices” and a View Errors link. Fix the invoices and save again until all the invoices you actioned are saved.
In Logs > Save History you can filter requests to Only Me or All, and see the GSTINs, the placed-at and completed-at times, and the status. The Saved to GSTN tab on the GET & Action IMS screen (new UI) shows who submitted each save, when, and its status. Select View Details to see each chunk’s reference number, description and status, and View Errors for any chunk that failed.
Email vendors about rejected and pending invoices
After the save completes, the Save to GSTN tab shows two panels: Counterparties with Rejected Invoices and Counterparties with Pending Invoices. Each panel shows the total number of counterparties, how many have an email contact in Vendor Master, how many are missing one, and the number of invoices. Select Add Missing Contacts to add the missing email addresses, and Prepare Email to email the counterparties about those invoices.

Regenerate GSTR-2B
After a successful save, the screen says “IMS Data Successfully Saved! Next step: Generate and fetch your GSTR-2B data to proceed with reconciliation”. To do this, select Generate and Get 2B on that screen, or, at business PAN level, go to Reconciliation > 2B Based Purchase Recon > 2B Bulk Download. You must regenerate GSTR-2B every time you take or change actions after saving.
- You cannot generate a new GSTR-2B until you have filed GSTR-3B for the previous period.
- If you act on an invoice after the 14th of the month, regenerate GSTR-2B before you file GSTR-3B.
- If you reconcile on GSTR-2A, update the 2B flags in your 2A reconciliation results. If you reconcile on GSTR-2B, continue with GSTR 2B reconciliation.
