ShipCompliant Product News

Updated December 12, 2023

As the year comes to a close, it’s a fine time to reflect on our achievements and partnership, and a chance to look ahead at what’s to come in 2024. Here’s a summary of last month’s product news and recent projects we’ve been working on.

  • Alabama: When registering products with the same COLA that have a difference in ABV of > 0.5%, we'll now generate separate registration packets for each product, per state guidelines.
  • Colorado: We've updated the state DR-0173 Retailer's Use Tax Return and DR-0100 Retail Sales and Use Tax Return with minor changes.
  • Hawaii: We've updated the state Annual County Report with minor changes. We've also updated the state email address for return submission.
  • Minnesota: We now support the state's two new tax jurisdictions (Metro Area for Housing and Metro Area Transportation).
  • Nebraska: We've fixed a problem with the State and Local Sales and Use Tax Return where total rates were not showing correctly.
  • New York: We've updated the state ST-100 State and Local Quarterly Sales and Use Tax Return with minor changes.
  • Oklahoma: We've updated the state email address for return submission.
  • Rhode Island: We've updated the state Sales and Use Tax Return - Annual Reconciliation with minor changes.

Looking forward to 2024, here’s a rundown of what we’re working on:

  • Starting January 1, 2024, we’ll provide support for the California Beverage Container Recycling Program, including collection and remittance of the redemption value on direct sales of wine, and the manufacturer processing fee for distribution of beer, wine and spirits. For collection of the CRV, we'll return the total amount of the fee per order via API. While the manufacturer processing fee can't be collected directly from consumers, we will support the required reporting for both DtC wine shipments to California residents and for all wholesale distributions. To prepare for fee collection and reporting, make sure that all your products in ShipCompliant are set up with the proper container type/size and read more about the bill here.
  • We’re excited to announce that our new Wineshipping event-driven API is live. This new API will bring real-time tracking updates from Wineshipping to ShipCompliant, so if you use Wineshipping, you’ll see tracking numbers in your account as soon as they’re available.
  • Our team is completing technical prep work for the busy January filing season, speeding up report pre-render and download times so that your compliance work is quicker than ever.
  • We’ve launched new Sovos ShipCompliant managed service offerings! With Compliance Navigator – License Services, our team will file new or renewing state license applications for you. With Compliance Navigator – Registration Services, we’ll register your new or renewing products on your behalf. These services can significantly reduce the manual work involved in filing licenses, researching correct forms and registering products on the various state websites. Contact your account representative to learn more.

We look forward to another year of innovation and partnership!
