2021 ShipCompliant Product Improvements & 2022 Roadmap

December 20, 2021

As 2021 comes to a close, we wanted to share this look back at the updates and improvements made to ShipCompliant solutions this year, along with a sneak peek at what’s ahead for product development in 2022.

2021 ShipCompliant product updates

Our direct-to-consumer (DtC) beer, spirits and cider product offerings were launched, including compliance checks, tax rates and state reporting. In other DtC news, the ShipCompliant direct-to-consumer REST API was launched. We added sales order quote functionality, invested in performance, and ensured that workflows were streamlined to meet the most common customer needs.

We also launched integrations with Craftpeak, Spirits360, Vincipia, and BigCommerce via the Alcohol-2-Consumer app. Partnering with industry-leading software and on-premise solutions through direct integrations puts compliance (including tax rates, volume limit checks, license status, etc.) at the front of our mutual customers’ DtC processes.

The Streamlined Sales Tax Model 1 beta program came online in 2021. This offering provides audit protection for sales tax reporting in SST member states as well as a discounted AutoFile subscription (program approval required).

Our Product Registration Online (PRO) solution also saw updates this past year. First, the new PRO renewals subscription combines PRO renewals with our Market Ready product for federal and state label registration tracking and submission in bulk. We also delivered Oklahoma PRO renewal efficiency enhancements, including a new export that showcases additional identifying data to enable fee reconciliation and a renewal selection process scaling label selection.

We’ve also introduced Sovos Help, the new in-product help center. This context-driven knowledge center provides a host of targeted, easy-to-access articles to quickly assist you with the tasks you need to complete in ShipCompliant.

What’s forecasted for 2022?

The beverage alcohol world is ever-evolving. To keep up with the pace of change and provide the best value to clients, we have the following key initiatives on our 2022 roadmap.

There will be heavy investments in the ShipCompliant platform in 2022, encompassing:

  • Infrastructure and automation
  • Data scaling (system performance)
  • Low code filing engine, to keep up with the pace of regulatory change
  • A new look and feel of the ShipCompliant user interface, including navigation and data setup

We will also be launching the Wholesale REST API, including streamlined product registration workflows and empowering deep integration. Sovos ShipCompliant will also begin making enhancements to our Market Ready product, including scaling the federal to state registration generation and submission process.

Direct-to-consumer clients, be on the lookout for a new landing page when logging into ShipCompliant, including items that need your attention, such as expiring licenses and missing information on reports, as well as data-driven business insights.

Finally, keep an eye out for a new PRO state partnership! We are excited to enable our joint customers to scale the time to market process for their new products. We will be announcing our new partner in the coming months.

With more than 4,000 compliance rules currently enabled in ShipCompliant, we’ll continue to track all regulatory changes enacted by states, keeping our core promise of ensuring our users stay compliant all year long.

As always, stay tuned for the latest updates from Sovos ShipCompliant. We look forward to partnering across another year of change and growth in the beverage alcohol industry.
