Aidan Landen

Title: Product Manager

Hometown: Sante Fe, N.M.

Years in the industry/at Sovos ShipCompliant: Two years at Sovos and five years in the tech industry.

Favorite part of your job: Being able to see problems in the alcohol compliance world from both sides is an invaluable and deeply informative experience. I love helping suppliers of all sizes solve their very real problems, while at the same time working with the states to iron out inefficiencies in their processes and get them the data that they need.

What is a project/campaign from the last year (or past six months) that you’re especially proud of and why?: Bringing Ohio on to the public Product Registration Online (PRO) system in the spring was a big achievement. I was thrown into that project on day one at Sovos and it was extremely rewarding to finally deliver value to our customers. What made the experience even better was then meeting some of our customers at the Wine Summit in April and seeing how much it meant to them!

What impact do you make in your role?: Having a technical background as a former software engineer, I’m able to better understand the technical dimension of customer issues and new features, which makes for more effective communication with the development team and efficient implementation of solutions. I’m always looking to better understand the technical design of our system, which I believe contributes to more robust and longer lasting solutions for our customers. Additionally, I frequently talk to our customers, learning more about their business and where Sovos ShipCompliant fits in. As a product manager, I think its essential to remain a student of your userbase and industry. Luckily with Sovos ShipCompliant, we have a lot of customers who are passionate about what they do and are eager to collaborate in order to create a better product.

What out-of-state beverage do you wish could be shipped directly to you?: I recently visited family in Seoul, South Korea where I tried a lot of interesting Makgeolli, which is a delicious lightly sparkling rice wine. Oftentimes it looks like milk, but drinks like something in between a funky wine and a refreshing crisp beer. You can find it in the United States now, and I would highly recommend for everyone to try it. However, I was impressed by the variety available in Seoul and wish these could be shipped directly to me.
