Following an announcement by the head of His Majesty’s Treasury in late September 2024, the UK Revenue and Customs authority (HMRC) has confirmed an upcoming public consultation on e-invoicing as part of the 2024 Autumn Budget published on 30 Oct 2024.

According to the announcement, the government will launch the consultation in early 2025 to establish standards and promote the adoption of electronic invoicing across the country. There are still, however, no details as to the framework they are aiming to introduce.

With this initiative, the UK continues to move toward the possible introduction of an e-invoicing regime, potentially aligning with other countries adopting similar measures.
