North Carolina Updates Business Registration Application for Income Tax Withholding

The North Carolina Department of Revenue recently updated Form NC-BR, the Business Registration Application for Income Tax Withholding, Sales and Use Tax, and Other Taxes and Service Charge. This form is used to register businesses with the North Carolina Department of Revenue for tax-related purposes.

  • In Section 1, “Identifying Information”, a space was added for E-mail Addresses of the filer.
  • Section 4, previously known as the “Machinery and Equipment Tax Section”, has been removed from the current version of the form.
    • The relevant instructions on page 2 have also been removed.
  • The references to the NC DOR website have been updated to ncdor.gov.
