Sovos Bolsters Cloud Technology Leadership with Chief Security Officer, Chief Product Officer and Head of Customer Success

June 21, 2018

Sovos, a leading global provider of modern tax software, today announced the appointment of a chief product officer, a chief security officer and a head of customer success to its leadership team. The announcement comes as global demand for modern tax software continues to accelerate behind a wave of regulatory change in the enforcement of VAT, sales and use tax and a variety of taxes on transactions, including highly disruptive e-invoicing mandates on six continents.

John Strasser, who has led Sovos’ security practice for more than five years, is now chief security officer, responsible for information security, compliance, data privacy and global networking. Pawel Smolarkiewicz is chief product officer, leading the company’s global product management, regulatory analysis and user experience teams. Laura Handler is head of customer success, focused on growing customer engagement through a mix of customer success, customer marketing and customer experience.

“We’re proud to be the first company to offer businesses a modern, global tax solution, and we take our role in shaping the future of tax seriously. Being an impactful market leader starts with having the right kind of leadership team,” said Andy Hovancik, president and CEO, Sovos. “Laura, John and Pawel have proven they can produce the kind of predictable results our customers expect, even as conditions change rapidly around them. They are the type of leaders we need to help us deliver on our promise to keep our customers ahead with a modern cloud solution that is highly reliable, scalable and always secure.”

The appointments are part of an initiative to advance Sovos’ unique cloud platform, S1, which the company announced earlier this month. The S1 platform was built to help businesses deploy tax solutions anywhere they need them and with any infrastructure strategy through a single, API-enabled platform.

“Tax software used to be something you bought, installed and almost forgot about, but that’s not the case anymore. In our customers’ business models, they now need modern, connected technology backed by proactive support from people that know how to make the most of it,’” said Handler. “Our customer success team was built to take tax software to the next level so our customers are prepared not just for today, but for what comes next.”

Sovos is currently hiring UX, software engineering, customer success and product management roles, among others. To see available global positions, click here. To learn more about Sovos’ S1 platform, click here.
