Greece has made a great step towards the digitalization of its tax system with the introduction of technology-based transaction controls that aim to digitalize a set of reporting and accounting obligations for taxpayers to the government.
The main feedback from the public consultation is that e-invoicing is a prerequisite for the efficient operation of the e-books and that it should precede the implementation of the latter.
On 1 August 2019, the tax authority published information and technical documentation about the new e-books scheme, called myDATA (“My Digital Accounting and Tax Application”), which is expected to be fully operational by the beginning of 2020.
