The role that eCommerce is playing in the growth of the wine industry can not be understated. The U.S. Commerce Department reported that online sales were 11.7% of all retail sales in 2016, and that number increased by 15.8% over the past year. In 2017, direct-to-consumer shipments represented a similar portion of off-premise retail sales of domestic wines (10%), and similarly increased by 16% year over year. In this age of evolving economic and consumer habits that are driving more sales online, we will continue to see direct-to-consumer shipments grow.
