On 30 June 2022, the Romanian Government issued Act No. 106 and changed the effective date of Articles 13 and 14 of GEO, which established the penalties for non-compliance with the e-transport system requirements. As a result, the Romanian authorities will not implement fines for non-compliance with the e-transport requirements until the new effective date, 1 October 2022. Starting from 1 October 2022, taxpayers will be penalized for non-compliance with the e-transport rules.

Moreover, the draft order for the use and operation of the RO E-Transport system was also enacted and published in the official gazette on 30 June. This means Romanian authorities completed the legislative process regarding the e-transport system one day before the system became mandatory.
