Romania introduced an e-Transport system, which will be used to monitor the transport of goods on the national territory. After minor revisions, the draft Emergency Ordinance was published in the Official Gazette on 11 April 2022 (GEO no. 41). The revisions made in the ordinance are:

  • Addition of a provision regarding personal data protection
  • The voluntary go-live date of the system changed from 1 April to the date of entry into force of ordinance.
  • Addition of two new definitions: the transport operator and consignment of goods.

According to the published ordinance, it will become mandatory to use the e-transport system and declare the transportation of high-fiscal risk goods via the IT systems of the Ministry of Finance, starting from 1 July 2022.
