On 1 October, technical specifications for the transmission of invoices to the government were published as part of a pilot B2G project, e-Factura.

It is expected that e-Factura will lay the foundations for the extension of the platform for further developments and will provide the necessary know-how to develop the generalised electronic invoicing system for B2B transactions. The Romanian authorities have announced plans to introduce a B2B e-invoicing system, which is expected to be based on e-Factura, but no further information or timeline has yet been published about the roll-out of the B2B e-invoicing system. There have been rumours about a voluntary go-live date in January 2022, however this is not based on official sources and therefore not reliable.
