The Oman Tax Authority (OTA) has shared additional details with the 100 companies chosen for the pilot phase of the Fawtara Program.
In a direct communication (pending official publication by the OTA), authorities have validated their commitment to implementing a 5-corner model in the country, mandating that electronic invoices be transmitted via service providers certified by the OTA, along with the following rollout schedule:

November 2025: E-invoicing specifications will be published on OTA’s official website

December 2025: Release of standards for service providers and start of invoice workshops

February 2026: Testing platform goes live

May 2026: Start of registration and accreditation process for SPs

August 2026: Planned go-live for the pilot phase

2027-2028: All other businesses gradually included
The phased implementation is anticipated to reach full coverage by August 2028.
The Fawtara initiative marks a pivotal advancement in Oman’s tax digitalization journey, with the OTA working closely with selected pilot companies to ensure a smooth transition to mandatory e-invoicing. Businesses are encouraged to begin assessing their technical readiness for the upcoming implementation phases.
