The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia has released new versions of the e-invoice and e-invoice specific guidelines, alongside a new version of the Software Development Kit (SDK).

The update to SDK, first launched in February, includes clarifications and new technical information, namely e-signature requirements for the CTC mandate, going live in August of 2024.

An e-signature should be applied to all document in order to assure integrity and authenticity, and only certificates issued from a Certification Authority listed in the list of Certification Authorities and Recognition from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission can be used. This requirement implies the use of local certificates for signing e-invoices, as no foreign Certification Authorities are recognized in the country at the moment.
