The Social Security Administration has announced a NEW Employer Signature PIN for employers and third-party submitters who file wage reports electronically.

Purpose: Enables an organization’s administrator to issue the PIN to authorized individuals or third-party submitters filing wage reports on the organization’s behalf. The PIN adds another layer of security to the filing process.

Renewal: The PIN will be reissued annually, timed to the Tax Reporting Season.

Status: “Coming Soon”. SSA has stated no action is required from employers at this time.

2026 EFW2/EFW2C: The 2026 EFW2/EFW2C releases include a field for EMPLOYER SIGNATURE PIN, however this field is not labeled as required at this time.
No additional details are available on whether the EMPLOYER SIGNATURE PIN will be required for tax year 2026 reporting. The SSA will post further updates here.
