The Kentucky Department of Revenue has published “Specifications for Electronic Submission of Annual Wage and Tax Information via Electronic Media or Web for Year 2018.” The DOR reminds filers that there is only one format for reporting via web based filing or CD.

Kentucky statute now requires any withholder issuing more than 25 withholding statements annually to electronically file. Employers filing 25 or less statements are encouraged but not required to use electronic filing.  This is a significant decrease from last year, where electronic filing was required for employers filing 100 or more W-2s.

The DOR advises that this year, no filing extensions will be granted. All withholding filings must be filed by January 31, 2019.

Finally, Form 42A808, “Request Form for Authoriation of Submission via Web” may now be faxed to the DOR. The fax number is 1(502)-564-3685.

There were no changes to the specifications.
