IRS Releases Publication 1220 for Tax Year 2019

The IRS recently released a new version of Publication 1220 for Tax Year 2019. This publication contains instructions and specifications for electronic filing of information returns with the IRS.

There are several updates to the latest version of this publication, which include the following:

  • Form 1098-F: specifications for this form type along with applicable record positions in the T, A, B, C, K, and F records were added for TY 2019.
  • Specifications for the submission of an automatic 30-day extension of time to file certain information returns are now included in this publication.
  • As of October 1, 2019, Form 4419 is required and must be filed electronically when requesting an original TCC.
