March 26, 2020

The Iowa Department of Revenue announced that the due date for certain withholding payment deposits will be extended in light of the evolving situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, Iowa residents or other taxpayers doing business in Iowa assigned to the semi-monthly deposit cycle will see an extension: for the period ending on March 15, 2020, the due date of March 25, 2020 will be extended to a new deposit due date of April 10, 2020.

Regarding penalties and interest that would ordinarily be associated with this payment cycle, no late-filing or underpayment penalties shall be due for qualifying taxpayers who comply with the extended filing and payment deadlines. Interest on unpaid taxes covered by this extension shall be due beginning on April 11, 2020.
