The Greek Ministry of Finance and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) announced a (second) postponement of the mandatory B2G e-invoicing obligation for certain public sector transactions from June 2025 to 1 September 2025.
This affects suppliers invoicing the government for expenditures that are not governed by public procurement legislation. The postponement is intended to allow additional time for final technical preparation of AADE and GSIS platforms and to support a smooth transition to mandatory electronic invoicing.
📆 Revised Timeline:
-
Since 12 September 2023: e-invoicing mandatory for suppliers to selected public entities (e.g. Ministries of Transport, Digital Governance, Migration & Asylum, etc.).
-
From 1 January 2024: extension to all central government entities
-
From 1 June 2024: extension to all other public sector contracting authorities
-
From 1 June 2025 (previously January 2025): invoicing of non-procurement public expenses (e.g. utilities, rents) – now postponed to 1 September 2025
The new go-live date of 1 September 2025 will be confirmed through an updated ministerial decision in the Government Gazette.
