Ohio Next Generation 9-1-1 Access Fee Changes Effective January 1, 2024

As a part of the Ohio 2023-2024 budget bill, H.B. 33, the state will transition to a “Next Generation (NG) 9-1-1 system” beginning January 1, 2024. This transition includes an increase in the 9-1-1 access fee for wireless telephone subscribers from $0.25 to $0.40 for the period of January 2, 2024, through September 30, 2025. After which the fee will decrease again to $0.25. For prepaid wireless services, the access fee will remain the same 0.005% of the sales price and be renamed the NG 9-1-1 access fee.
