Colorado Preparing New Tax Filing Portal

Colorado is in the process of developing a new system to manage the collection of state sales tax, local tax in all state-administered localities, as well as local tax in select home rule cities. The new system, which is supported by a company called Munirevs, has yet to be publicly released. However, it promises to enable simpler tax filings in a place where tax compliance is notoriously tricky. The state is working to gather more participation from Colorado home rule cities in an effort to create a true one-stop solution for Colorado sales tax filings.

We suspect that the state will not mandate use of the system until it has reached a critical mass of participants. In the meantime, sales tax filers can continue to use the state’s Revenue Online system and can find out more about Munirevs on its website.
