Canada: Updates to Environmental Fees on Display Device and Expansion of Newfoundland Electronic Waste Fees

June 2, 2026

Most Canadian provinces impose environmental handling fees on certain electronic waste through the Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA). Beginning June 1, the categories for Display Devices Steward fees will expand from “Display Devices ≥ 46″ and All-in-One” to “Display Devices 46-64″ and All-in-One” and “Display Devices ≥ 65” and All-in-One”.  As a result, businesses will need to ensure that they are applying the correct fees to display devices of over 65 inches.

Additionally, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador is adding fees to multiple new product categories, including IT and Telecom Equipment, E-Bikes, and Electronic Toys. Categories that already carry fees have additional products added, including servers in the Desktop Computer category.
