The Mexican President has issued a Decree by which taxpayers that were affected by the earthquake of September 19 in the municipalities of the states of Guerrero, Mexico, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tlaxcala, as well as in Mexico City, will be allowed to pay the VAT due on transactions carried out during the months of September, October, November and December of 2017, in three deferred payments equally proportioned between January and March 2018.
The Decree further provides that taxpayers in the agricultural and fishing industries will be allowed to file their VAT return on a monthly basis. The Decree also includes other incentives and reliefs related to the income tax of that country, as well some mechanisms to ensure the rapid refund of the VAT to affected taxpayers.
