North Macedonia Extends Temporary VAT Relief for Diesel Fuel

Candice Lindeman
October 26, 2026

North Macedonia’s Minister of Finance has announced via Facebook that the temporary reduced VAT rate of 10% (down from 18%) applicable to certain diesel fuel products will be extended until November 2, 2026.

The announcement follows a series of temporary VAT rate reductions and subsequent extensions adopted during 2026, which the government has linked to potential disruptions in the supply of oil and petroleum products and their impact on fuel prices. The earlier VAT reduction, adopted on September 28, 2026, that identifies the qualifying fuel products by specific CN codes is available here (in Macedonian only).

A formal decision confirming the Minister’s Facebook announcement has not yet been identified.
