The Belgian Federal Public Service (FPS) Finance has announced that, from October 2026, businesses will be able to submit accounting data electronically through MyMinfin using the Belgian Standard Audit File for Tax (BE SAF-T) format when they respond to a tax audit request.
The use of BE SAF-T remains voluntary. Businesses whose accounting/ERP systems can generate a BE SAF-T file are encouraged to use the format. Companies that cannot provide BE SAF-T can submit the requested information in another readable format..
The initiative is designed to facilitate the exchange of accounting data between taxpayers and the tax administration during audit procedures and forms part of FPS Finance’s ongoing efforts to advance digitalisation and administrative simplification through standardised electronic data exchange.
Companies that choose to submit a BE SAF-T file need to make sure it is technically and legally correct. FPS Finance has published technical documentation and procedural guidance for the format and the submission process.
