Pursuant to Governor DeSantis signing FL HB 7061, Florida will now have three Sales Tax Holidays in 2021.

The Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will be held between May 28, 2021 and June 6, 2021, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain disaster and emergency supplies free from state sales tax when the cost per item meets certain threshold requirements. Guidance from the Florida Department of Revenue for this holiday can be found here.

A new Freedom Week Sales Tax Holiday will be held between July 1, 2021 and July 7, 2021, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase admissions to music events, sporting events, cultural events, specified performances, movies, museums, state parks, and fitness facilities free from state sales tax. Additionally, the following items will be exempt from sales tax given certain threshold requirements are met:

  • Certain boating and water activity supplies

  • Certain camping supplies, fishing supplies and general outdoor supplies

  • Sports equipment

The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will be held between July 31, 2021 and August 9, 2021, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase clothing, wallets, bags, school supplies, personal computers, and personal computer-related accessories free from tax when the cost per item meets certain threshold requirements.

Sovos is closely monitoring for any additional guidance posted by the Florida Department of Revenue.
