The Colorado Department of Revenue recently published an updated version of Form DR-0137, Claim for Refund. This form is used by taxpayers to request a refund from a variety of tax account types, including Withholding Tax.

The most significant change to the form is the addition of comprehensive instructions for use of the form with several tax types. This is a direct result of Publication FYI Sales 90 being discontinued, the substance of which was added to DR-0137 in the form of the previously mentioned instructions.

There was also one minor update to the form: the section entitled “Refund Request Reason” requires greater detail in explaining why the refund is being requested, and also requires an explanation even if a letter is attached to the form.
