The magazine considered a number of factors in compiling its Top 100, including training investments, training program and scope, tuition reimbursement, training infrastructure and delivery, number of training hours per employee, business-outcome measurement and how closely companies link training to business goals. This year, the list decreased from the Top 125 to the Top 100, making the rankings even more competitive.

“Sovos demonstrates the value of prioritizing employee training and education at every step in someone’s career path, not just when they start out in the company,” said Lorri Freifeld, Training magazine editor-in-chief. “Sovos, like all of our honorees, understands how a significant investment in employee training is critical to driving a company’s success.”

Sovos, which moved into the top 50 honorees in this year’s list, quickly adapted and transitioned from in-person training programs to completely virtual ones last year. Despite this challenge, Sovos continued its commitment to delivering innovative programs without interruption and trained more than 1,650 employees in 2020.

“As Sovos continues to grow—we now have employees in more than 10 countries supporting more than 8,000 customers around the world—we have prioritized training in order to provide our talented employees with the tools they need to help us accomplish our mission to Solve Tax for Good,” said Colleen Schlagel, chief talent officer at Sovos. “One of our core values at Sovos is to Be Professional—in turn, we’ve created a culture where employees are encouraged to develop and expand their professional skills, enabling them to solve problems and best help our customers.”

Sovos has multiple training programs, including First 48, a two-day onboarding program for new employees; LEADS, a program for existing managers to grow and develop their leadership skills; and IMPACT, a program for individual contributors who are looking to build influence and advance their careers as subject matter experts. Sovos also offers a Cloud Rotations program for cross-functional development and career expansion.
