Sovos’ Christiaan van der Valk Named Chairman of GENA, Leading Global E-Invoicing Standards and Collaboration

Appointment reinforces Sovos’ commitment to industry leadership and advancing interoperability across international e-invoicing networks

ATLANTA – October 1, 2025 – Sovos, the always-on tax compliance company, today announced that GENA, an international trade association for a large and dynamic community of e-invoicing service providers, has elected Christiaan van der Valk, GM, Indirect TaxTech, Sovos, as its new Chairman. GENA works to support business efficiency and innovation, while also supporting top public agenda goals, such as tax efficiency, environmental efficiency and social responsibility.

This appointment reflects Sovos’ long-standing commitment to working within the industry to ensure standards and effective competition across global markets. In his role as Chair, Christiaan will support GENA’s mission to promote best practices and advance collaboration within the exchange network community.

An internationally recognized voice on e-business strategy, law, policy, best practices and commercial issues, van der Valk previously served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Public Policy and Compliance Working Group at GENA for 11 years. He also holds a leadership role at the Digitalization Dialogue of the Inter-American Centre of Tax Administrations (CIAT). He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has been recognized by numerous associations for his contributions.
