Both IFS and Workday announce the completion of acquisitions as the news shows no sign of slowing before the winter break. The big question raised is who will be the next CTO at Salesforce?

Acquisitions

IFS has announced the completion of the acquisition of Astea, the field service management vendor. Nicole France, VP and Principal Analyst at Constellation Research commented: “With the acquisition of Astea, IFS has strengthened and deepened its ability to help customers innovate in field service and service management.” 

Qualitest is to acquire AI and machine Learning company AlgoTrace. This is its first acquisition since it received investment from Bridgepoint earlier this year. It now has the ability to deliver a greater number of AI powered testing solutions to its customers.

TrueCommerce has announced the acquisition of Netalogue, a leading provider of B2B trading eCommerce solutions in the UK.

Workday completed its acquisition of Scout RFP this week. The company will operate as Scout RFP, a Workday company. Aneel Bhusri , co-founder and CEO, Workday commented: “With Scout RFP now part of Workday, we will equip procurement teams with a modern source-to-pay solution to help optimize spend with greater efficiency, engagement, and transparency. I’m thrilled to welcome this talented team to Workday. By bringing together our joint focus on employees, customers, and innovation, we will be able to set the new standard for spend management.” The acquisition strengthens the proposition of the Workday ERP, especially its financials to larger organisations.

Appointments

Determine, a Corcentric company, a leading global provider of SaaS Source-to-Pay solutions, has appointed Philippe de Grossouvre as EMEA Northern Europe Business Development Director. He has previously worked at spend management technology vendors Ivalua, Pool4Tool and MFG.com

Infor has appointed Jarrod Kinchington as MD for Australia and New Zealand. The role is newly created and will see Infor have a greater focus on the region.

Oracle has appointed Dr. Vishal Sikka, founder and CEO of the AI company Vianai Systems to its Board of Directors. Sikka previously held leadership roles at SAP and was CEO of Infosys.

The meteroric rise of Bret Taylor continues at Salesforce with his appointment as President and Chief Operating Officer. He will now lead Salesforce’s global product vision, engineering, security, marketing and communications. Who will replace him as the next CTO?

Wavemaker has appointed Daniel Brown to the newly created role of Global Growth Chief Strategy Officer.

Business

Acumatica has forged a strategic partnership with BDO USA. It’s targeting mid-market customers to work with an Acumatica partner and BDO to deliver larger more complex ERP solutions. Potentially this may edge into a market area already occupied by IFS.

The Association of Project Management (APM) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. APM and RTA will work together to promote excellence in project management across the Middle East.

Oracle announced its Q2 2020 results. Revenues were up 1% to $9.6 billion. Oracle CEO, Safra Catz stated: “We had another strong quarter in our Fusion and NetSuite cloud applications businesses with Fusion ERP revenues growing 37% and NetSuite ERP revenues growing 29%. This consistent rapid growth in the now multibillion dollar ERP segment of our cloud applications business has enabled Oracle to deliver a double-digit EPS growth rate year-after-year. I fully expect we will do that again this year.”

Skillsoft has announced that it will collaborate with MIT Sloan Management Review to create the Skillsoft Leadership Development Program. It will launch in Q1 2020 and be powered by Percipio, Skillsoft’s learning experience platform.

Campus Management has announced that Brazoport college has selected CampusNexus Student and Engage platforms as a part of its digital transformation strategy.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has selected IFS Service Management to increase its process efficiency. It also want to improve margins and customer satisfaction as part of a transformation program. IFS won the bid in a competitive tender.

UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) will deploy Infor CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise as its first ERP. The new centre is being built near Coventry as part of the government Faraday Battery Challenge

Scania, one of the worlds leading truck manufacturers, will use JDA Transportation Management to power its supply chain strategy. The project is part of a wider initiative to deliver a sustainable transport system and should help reduce waste and resource consumption.

Nintex announced that the City of Garland, Texas has leveraged Nintex Workflows for SharePoint and Nintex Forms to automate several processes across its 45 departments.

Northlake Partners has announced that NorthScope Food ERP has enabled its Alaskan Seafood processing users to have purchased approximately 269,006,400 pounds of Alaska Seafood from fishermen. It is the 8th most successful harvest of salmon in Alaska since 1975.

Leading Insuretech vendor BIMA is developing low code applications which will go live in January. The applications are powered by the OutSystems low-code platform. BIMA Health and BIMA Life will launch in Pakistan and then roll out to eight other countries and up to six million customers in 2020.

Oracle announced that Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) has launched a digital experience pilot for using Oracle Utilities Opower Behavioral Load Shaping Cloud Service for thousands of Baltimore residents.

Campus Management has announced a Student Verification solution. The cloud-based solution automates help in processing applications, improving compliance and communication. Early adopter the University of Wisconsin-Madison saw a dramatic reduction in financial aid processing times.

SAP has announced the integration of Minsait’s Onesait Hospitality suite into the travel accelerator for the SAP Commerce Cloud solution. It will enable hotel chains to better serve travellers with new products and services available in a single commerce system across various channels, such as mobile, social or websites.

SAP has announced a partnership with Project 44 that will deliver a joint solution for key transportation processes within the SAP logistics Business Network.

Simpro has announced automatic syncing with P&R, a new supplier for Australia. It now allows customers to accept quotes online. The system sends notifications once PDFs are signed and the process completes.

Research

The Ivanti Women in Tech Survey 2019 found that discrimination is still present, if not increasing in technology. Nearly half (46%) of respondents believe there is still a pay gap. More worryingly,  31% see a glass ceiling to senior leadership roles, an increase from 24% in 2018.

Kronos has found that almost half of UK hospitality and food service managers call unplanned absence their top challenge. The research carried out by Kronos and The Caterer surveyed nearly 400 UK workers in the industry and amongst other finding found that nearly 74% has staff shortages during peak periods.
