Alex Pavel is the managing director for APAC & Middle East, based in Dubai. He brings nearly 20 years of experience in the B2B software and services sector. Throughout his career, Alex has demonstrated proficiency in leadership, sales and strategic alliances. He has held positions of increasing responsibility for companies such as Pagero, Avalara, IHS Markit, Thomson Reuters, Epicor Software and Axway Software.
Alex excels in environments where he is pioneering new markets and launching new business lines. His achievements include winning multi-million-dollar technology projects with large multinationals, professional services firms, and financial institutions, and establishing strategic relationships with alliance partners such as Big 4 consulting firms, system integrators, and ERP providers.
He currently serves as the Chairman of the Middle East Chapter of the Global Exchange Network Association (GENA), an industry group of service providers focused on electronic invoicing and business document exchange automation. Alex is also an active member of the international business community with involvement in groups such as the Virtual Advisory Board (VAB) and the Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs Association.
He serves as a business advisor and mentor to startups in the Gulf region through accelerators such as Brinc MENA where he was recently selected as a mentor for the Port of Neom incubation project, as well as Founder Institute Middle East and Bolt Consultancy.
Alex has lived and worked in Romania, France, the UK, Bahrain, KSA, and the UAE. He holds a BSc in Economics from the Romanian-American University in Bucharest, and an MBA from Sorbonne Business School in Paris, France.
