Virginia has lately released an updated copy of its Electronic Payment Guide.  This guide details the instructions necessary to complete an ACH payment to the Department of Taxation.  No material changes were made to instructions for filing or paying taxes related to withholding or information returns.

Some changes were made to the instructions for filing or paying other forms of taxes.  These changes include, but are not limited to, new requirements to file various forms of taxes, such as communications and tobacco taxes, electronically.  The ACH credit code list has also been updated to reflect tax types now required to be filed electronically.  Parties with sales and use; corporate income; pass-through entity; communications; motor vehicle rental; tobacco; vending machine; and/or individual estimated tax liabilities may wish to closely examine the Electronic Payment Guide and other guidance from the Department of Taxation to ensure compliance with the Department’s regulations.
