Expands Sovos’ beverage alcohol compliance platform

September 2, 2015 ― Sovos Compliance, an industry leader in tax, compliance and regulatory reporting, has acquired WineDirect Compliance, a Napa-based compliance reporting and tax solution for wineries. The acquisition of WineDirect Compliance comes on the heels of the April acquisition of ShipCompliant, the leading compliance and tax solution provider for the beverage alcohol market. Sovos Compliance will integrate WineDirect’s compliance product assets and intellectual property into the ShipCompliant platform and deepen its relationship with the WineDirect solution suite. As part of the WineDirect solutions suite, WineDirect Compliance provides automated and scheduled reporting of direct shipments, compliance checks in the shopping cart or via an iPad POS, and calculation and reporting of sales and excise taxes. “We are excited for the opportunity that this acquisition and partnership provides,” said Andy Hovancik, CEO of Sovos Compliance. “The beverage alcohol industry is one of the more difficult regulated industries to navigate. The integration of the Vin65 platform puts Sovos in a better position to provide a powerful solution for the direct-to-consumer market and ensures that wineries are one step ahead of the many rules required for compliance.” This combination of forces will create a seamless integration between ShipCompliant and WineDirect’s Vin65 eCommerce and POS platform, providing wineries with the best-in-class suite of software in the wine industry. “By strengthening our partnership with ShipCompliant, we can offer our joint customers the expertise and tools they need to improve the experience for consumers buying wine online or in the tasting room,” said Andrew Kamphuis, President of WineDirect. “Our goal is to empower our winery partners to be more customer-centric and to ultimately sell more wine direct-to-consumer.” About Sovos Compliance Sovos Compliance delivers technology solutions to help businesses meet the demands of their unique tax, compliance and reporting obligations.
