Mexico CFDI 3.3 and Complemento de Pagos Extension to December 1st, 2017

On May 12th, 2017, the SAT (Mexican tax authority) announced that it will be providing taxpayers an extension for the implementation of CFDI version 3.3 and Complemento de Pagos. Starting December 1st, 2017, all taxpayers will be required to comply with the CFDI version 3.3 and the Complemento de Pagos.

Although the CFDI 3.2 version will be sunset  effective December 1st, it is highly recommended that you continue focus on the implementation of CFDI version 3.3 and the Complemento de Pagos.  It is extremely important to take advantage of the additional time to prepare for a successful update deployment.

If you are not using the solutions available by Sovos, this now gives you time to partner with the correct SAP-native solution instead of using a local third-party bolt-on solution that will make staying compliant a nightmare. With Sovos, you will eliminate custom coding due to ERP localization gaps, avoid ending up with an accounting system that is not your system of record and you can implement a solution that can keep you compliant across Latin America with all Business-to-Government e-invoicing and fiscal reporting requirements.

The new CFDI 3.3 and Complemento de Pagos is not just a government connectivity issue. This is a process issue with major functional gaps along the way. To effectively comply with Latin America’s complex Business-to-Government mandates, companies must maintain compliance within SAP or be prepare to face major IT issues.

What you need to know from the press release published by the SAT:

  1. As of July 1, 2017, both CFDI versions 3.2 and 3.3 will coexist in parallel. Taxpayers will be able to gradually migrate their billing processes to version 3.3 between July 1st and November 30th.
  2. As of December 1, 2017, the only version valid for issuing electronic invoices will be CFDI version 3.3.
  3. The issuance of the Complemento de Pagos will be optional starting July 1, 2017 (only with CFDI version 3.3) and mandatory as of December 1, 2017 (with CFDI version 3.3).
  4. The approval process for the cancelling electronic invoices will take effect on January 1, 2018.
